Our History

We can trace our roots back to 1910, when Harry McBride started “McBride House of Hardware” in downtown Birmingham. After nearly 100 years in the industry we know what works and what doesn’t. Since 1949, we’ve been displaying and selling decorative and builder’s hardware. And in the mid-1990’s, we expanded our offerings to include decorative plumbing, making Russell Hardware Company a one-stop showroom for your new home or renovation project.

Our People

When you enter one of our two showrooms – Bloomfield Hills or Petoskey – you’ll be greeted by one of our hardware and plumbing consultants. With years of experience behind them, they’ll give you personalized attention, the kind you deserve. We do business the old-fashioned way – giving the customer one-on-one attention and taking the time they need. Our consultants work to find the best resolution to your specific need, never steering you towards the “special of the month.” We’re working for you the minute you walk in the door.

Post-Sale Support

And what happens after the sale? No one really talks about that. With the Internet, you’re virtually on your own (no pun intended). With the Russell Hardware Company, you have three layers of service and support – our company, the manufacturer’s representative, and the manufacturer. Being in business for this many years means our manufacturers are a trusted partner. They know us and they know the way we do business, so they’re willing to go that extra step should something not work out to your complete satisfaction.
